This week at Oxford

This week we had a number of positive things happen here at OCS.

Mr. O'Brien, the Principal of Warren Hills High School spoke to our 8th grade about the HS and what they might have in store for them as they complete their 8th grade and get ready to move to the HS. Mr. O'Brien and I spoke about the school and our students as they move through the HS and he told me that our Oxford students are consistently at the top of their classes and are always key contributors in the classrooms, on the playing fields and as participants in the many clubs and activities offered at Warren Hills. In order to make sure that we continue this we have our teachers attending articulation meetings with the HS personnel in Science and in Math, and soon in Language Arts as well.

Assemblyman Michael Doherty was here on Thursday to speak with our 6th grade Social Studies classes and field questions concerning government in NJ. We spoke as he left at the end of the day and he was very impressed with the preparation, the questions and the politeness of our students! He is also a huge Mets and Giants fan! Look for some pictures on our website soon.

We will be scheduling our 8th grade students for classes at Warren Hills next month. We are also going to set up a liaison here at OCS to keep our kids informed about athletics that are offered at Warren Hills Middle School. Our representative would be in contact with the athletic department at WH so that we can keep our student-athletes informed!

Don't forget the BOE meeting next Thursday, February 26th at 6:00 pm in the school library.
