I have received a few inquiries lately about the proposition that we are going to be regionalizing within the next two years with White Township. This is not going to happen, or at least not for a very long time!! I am sure that White Township is a very lovely township, however there are NO plans to merge with them!!
Recently some teachers went to a presentaiton on regionalization by the Executive County Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Brennan, who outlined the procedures that would need to be in place to make this happen.
The state has been exploring this idea since I became a teacher in 1984! If it happens, informing the citizens of Oxford would be a high priority. But let's put this rumor to bed right now. Regionalization is going to happen one day. Where, how and when are three balls the state is still juggling!

Happy Birthday Mrs. Melberger!
Thought everyone who looks over the blog might like to see a picture of Mrs. Kathryn Melberger and I that was taken on Tuesday, May 19th on her 96th birthday. I was accompanied to Warren Haven to visit Mrs. Melberger by Mr. Al Pierro and Mr. Matt Hibbett and we brought a number of birthday cards that students had created as well as an OCS T-shirt that the PTO graciously provided. Mrs. Melberger graduated from OCS more than 80--that's right--80 years ago! She is our community's oldest resident and it was a pleasure to help celebrate her birthday. I told her I would be back next year with cards for her 97th birthday!
May Flowers and other things...
Well, Spring certainly seems to be here now! The weather is warm, the sun is shining and the first grade tells me there are only 18 days of school left (but who's counting?!)
Hopefully you were part of the 400 who came last night and enjoyed the show presented by our KG-5 grade music students. The students did a wonderful job and the theme of "Movin in the Right Direction" is one that we will work hard to continue for the remainder of this year and into the next!
For parents who would like an update on the roof and interior renovations projects, please check here every few days and I will post some pictures--if I can get them loaded-- and some comments about the progress of the renovations.
The PTO/ Scholastic Book Fair has been going well and hopefully everyone has been able to take advantage of the half price sale! Today is the last day of the sale with 3N/W, 2L and Mrs. DeMarco's KG'ers finishing up the fair! Thanks to the PTO volunteers for their efforts. Special shout out to Mrs. hale who organized the whole shabang!
Enjoy your Memorial Day holiday and remember to take a few moments to remember the sacrifices of our fallen men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Shooting for the Top!
Congratulations to the 2009 Archery Team! They traveled to Louisville Kentucky this weekend and finished in 9th in the United States! In fact our score of 3238 would have placed us 21st in the HIGH SCHOOL division! Another impressive feat by the Team and the coaches!
Congratulations to all the participants and in particular: Danny Farkas, who finished 9th in his division...there were more than 400 shooters in his division!
Rachel Zorsky who finished 8th, Rachel Opdyke who finished 14th, Kayla Gallo and Samantha Dreissig who finished 61st and 62nd respectively! The entire team did a great job!!

May Showers!
Nice to finally see the sun after nine days in a row of precipitation!! I see our OYA softball teams are off to a good start... keep up the good work!
The month of May has always brought to mind the contributions of the importance of our mothers. This past month (and for the rest of the year) provided us with many opportunities to thank our moms for the wonderful things they have done for our school this year! If you were at the PTO Tricky Tray last month, you know what I am talking about. A sea of baskets and prizes, good food and a huge crowd all supporting the PTO.
What a great effort by our PTO and the Tricky Tray Committee.
I don’t want to leave out our PTO dads! Thank you for your efforts at the Coldstone Creamery last Saturday, May 1st!
The month of May brings many field trips—Washington, DC; Space Farms; the Sterling Mine, the Metropolitan Museum, the DARE trip to the IronPigs and the marshes and museums of South Jersey.
The Kindness Tea (May 1), was a huge success. Special thanks to the PTO, staff and Carol’s for their support of this program. The Spring Musical Concert will be held May 20,) Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8) will be celebrated with a special lunch provided by the PTO for all our staff on May 12th, The Kids Tricky Tray will be Saturday, May 16th from 3:00 – 6:00 in the school lunchroom and EMS Day will be held May 29! Quite a full month of activity.
May also brings the realization that the school year is going to come to a close very soon. As of this day, the First Grade tells me there are only 27 days left in the school year! Please be sure to contact your teachers if you have concerns about your child. Enjoy the sunshine and the yard work!
