Not much this post from the Principal! I had expected to finish up the mid-year community newsletter and have this newsletter available to go home with the report cards, but with missing the entire week, that is not going to happen. As soon as I get back to the office I will finish this newsletter and we will get it home to everyone. This mid-year report is part of the school board's initiative to provide more information to our families and our community. The mid-year report will highlight many of the wonderful things that have occurred here at OCS since September.
Speaking of wonderful news...
Congratulations to the winners in grades 5-8 whose essays were selected as part of the 2013 Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay contest sponsored by the Warren County Human Relations Commission! I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I would imagine that it is unheard of for one school to sweep all three places in each grade level! Awesome job by all of our students and to the teachers who helped the students with their essays and made sure that his project was taken seriously and was used to assist students with their writing abilities.
This Tuesday evening, February 5, there will be a PTA meeting here at OCS. The Student Council will be discussing their thoughts on gym informs and school uniforms with the PTA. I will also be there to answer questions and give some comparisons between uniforms and the cost of clothes in our current scenario. The meeting will begin at 7:00.
Finally, if you are looking for a touching and romantic evening for Valentine's Day... Why not come over to the school for the Board of Education meeting on February 14th? the meeting will begin at 7:00pm.
Till next time....
